Greetings! This journal - affectionately known as The Asylum for quite some time now - serves as a communications hub where I keep in touch with my friends [my non-traditional family, really], colleagues in the DJ scene and the bands, artists, labels and groups that I promote. I mainly use this space to talk about the things that are going on in my life and to keep in touch with the myriad loonies that I call my friends. Part personal and part professional, most of the entries here at The Asylum are a great snapshot of the weirdness that is my life.
As a DJ I got my start in community radio almost five years ago, when my friend Glenn and I hosted a show called Corruption's Manifesto on our local community radio station, radio free brattleboro. Sadly rfb ran afoul of the FCC, who simultaneously insisted that our station have a license and refused to give us said license because they weren't authorizing small stations [10 watt] like ours to broadcast. After putting up a fight that was later abandoned by many of rfb's core staff, rfb's equipment was seized by the government and a great cause went down the tubes.

After the fall of radio free brattleboro I had too much music bouncing around in my head to stay away from DJing for any length of time. After a guest spot spinning at The Haven [Northampton, MA] I picked up my first residency at Dark Intentions [Lowell, MA], where I'm proud to spin alongside some fine DJs who are part of a great up-and-coming community. While I think I do well as a DJ I try to keep in mind that really, I'm just some guy who loves music, who's good at guessing what people will like and who knows how to press buttons at the right time. I wouldn't be much without the artists who make the music that I play and the people who enjoy what I spin while they're out on the dance floor.
This journal is kept mostly private. While I can't link up everything that I'm into there, my interests and some of the communities that I belong to here on LJ should be a good resource as well.
